Isner showcases amazing defense in Auckland loss

John Isner lost to Roberto Bautista Agut 7-5, 2-6, 6-3 in the quarterfinals of the ASB Classic on Thursday, but not before playing what was without question the best defensive point of his career.

Late in the first set, Isner tracked down three Bautista Agut overheads–the first one after doing a spin move at the baseline. The 6’10” American eventually won it with a forehand volley.

Bautista Agut currently finds himself in the final against Jack Sock, while Isner has headed to Melbourne and will face Jerzy Janowicz in the opening round.
